Steve Phillips
Steve has until very recently been in the lead role within National Grid Transco, formerly Transco, at the customer interface as Director, Shipper Services.
He has comprehensive experience of managing all the critical high volume day-to-day activities between a gas transporter and its customers. His responsibilities included the billing and recovery of all Transco revenues including credit risk management for a business with an annual turnover of £3bn. He also managed the associated energy balancing and revenue neutrality processes. His successful management of all these critical processes, together with his lead role in negotiating the final financial closure of the initial period of UK competition, was essential in ensuring the viability of Transco as a successful business.
Steve was accountable for Transco strategy and operations for its' industry data management responsibilities and the pursuit of change to these responsibilities as supply side competition evolved. This included the instigation of an outsourcing and managed service initiative with the eventual goal of creating independent industry data management.
is knowledge of customer requirements with respect to query management, portfolio management and cash flow in a competitive environment was also critical to the success of Transco in ensuring compliance with a range of standards of service measures and minimising any intervention from the regulator.
Steve's experience within Transco has also involved the identification and implementation of a number of means by which a transporter and data manager can maximise its revenue and manage risk under the regulatory contract.
