John Nangle

John Nangle is currently an Energy Consultant and co founder of the Green Renewable Energy Company, prior to which he was the director of Energy Trading at Amerada Hess Gas Limited and Amerada Hess Gas (domestic) Ltd. He has worked in the oil & gas industry for 25 years and has very broad experience with a particular focus on traded markets. Since 1990 he has been very closely involved with the development of the UK & European gas markets, initially as European Gas Planning Manager for BP then at Amerada Hess as a consultant working on the development of the Network Code.

John then joined Amerada as a director with responsibility for setting up and running gas trading, risk management and gas operations. Consequently he has a detailed understanding of all aspects of a competitive gas market from both the theoretical and practical points of view. He has particular expertise in energy balancing, gas operations (both upstream and downstream), the development and operation of trading hubs, the development and operation of capacity trading regimes, gas transportation and gas storage. He also understands gas marketing from both the consumer and producer points of view and has expertise in all aspects of energy trading (front, middle and back office).

John left Amerada Hess Gas Limited in October 2002 to become a consultant following the sale of Amerada Hess Gas Limited to TXU Europe. He has been working with his own clients and as an associate consultant. His clients have included Sempra Europe Limited, Teesside Power Limited, Invensys PLC, Repsol, Qatargas 2,and a consortium of Swedish large industrial users. He is also been involved in the biomass renewable energy sector.
