Storage

• Identifying new markets for storage in the liberalised environment
• Clarifying the role of (and reward for) strategic storage as insurance in supporting security of supply
• Designing services such as space, deliverability, injection and withdrawal
• Defining, allocating and where necessary rationing capacity, including consideration of interruptible services
• Developing (and getting approval for) tariff methodologies, including consideration of market value versus cost of service
• Managing a constructive regulatory relationship, including the negotiation of price or revenue controls where relevant
• Shaping and responding to new incentives for efficiency, including benchmarking operations to demonstrate (or encourage) productivity
• Creating & managing the commercial, operational and physical interfaces with the connected transmission or distribution network, including agreeing rules for access to and from the network
• Obtaining value from storage's ability to substitute for pipeline capacity
• Participating in the new marketplace, including trading where appropriate
• Developing appropriate and flexible IT systems to support customer and physical operations
• Billing customers accurately and managing credit risk
• Managing cushion gas or native gas issues
• Reorganising the business and developing new skills such as market operations, regulatory and customer management
