Mike Piggin

Mike is a specialist in the development and implementation of the commercial arrangements for gas transportation, storage and trading. His experience in this area was gained in senior commercial management positions with Transco, the UK-Continent Interconnector and BG Storage.

At Transco, Mike managed the development of the Network Code Balancing and Capacity regime over a period of three years covering in excess of 150 modifications to the rules. He established and chaired the Energy Balancing and Capacity Workgroups.

Mike was then seconded as IUK's Commercial Manager. In this role Mike successfully resolved conflicting positions and introduced fundamental and far reaching changes to the IUK Standard Transportation Agreement requiring the unanimous approval of IUK's shareholders and shippers.

Then, as Commercial Operations Manager at BG Storage, Mike managed the 24x7 team delivering customer service obligations and managing risk exposure for the Rough and Hornsea underground storage facilities.

During the past 6 years, Mike has worked as an international consultant advising on the development of open access regimes covering gas transmission, distribution and storage. This has involved numerous assignments working in Northern Ireland, Holland, Germany, Italy, India, China, Singapore, Turkey, Hungary, Serbia and the UK.
