Mike Piggin

Mike's recent consultancy work includes the development of a Distribution Code for Phoenix Gas (N. Ireland), advice to Stogit (Italy) on storage services design, and work for Gastransport Services (the Netherlands) on the BBL interconnector project.

Previously, Mike held senior management posts at Transco, Interconnector UK and BG Storage.

At Transco he managed pre Network Code transportation contracts and then the development of the energy & capacity regimes during the early years of the Network Code.

Mike was then seconded as IUK's Commercial Manager where he led the negotiation of revised services including interruptible capacity, in-pipe storage, the hourly trading of capacity and gas and rules for 24 hour flow reversal.

He returned to BG Storage as Commercial Operations Manager. Mike managed the 24x7 customer interface, set daily prices and developed new services. Prompt and forward contracts were used to manage risk and enhance performance.

Mike holds an MBA from Cranfield and a diploma in utility regulation from Warwick Business School.
