Mark Sutton

Mark is a specialist in the development, implementation and ongoing management of commercial arrangements for gas transportation, storage and trading.

He has played leading roles at the forefront UK gas market developments over 15 years, from the introduction of transportation services in the late 1980s to the Distribution Network sales process in 2004/5.

Mark has several years commercial policy development experience, including arrangements for Network Code energy balancing, storage, and more recently arrangements at the transmission/ distribution system interface. In addition, Mark has extensive experience of implementation and day-to-day management of complex capacity and energy balancing regimes, involving integration of physical system operation activities with new commercial arrangements.

Mark’s specific experience includes development and implementation of the first UK transportation and power station connection agreements, policy development for the Network Code energy balancing regime, and the implementation and ongoing management of the Network Code and System Operator incentive arrangements from the national gas control centre. He also led development of the Storage Services contract for the partially deregulated Rough and Hornsea storage facilities.

Mark became a Director of TPA Solutions in 2005, having held senior commercial management positions with National Grid Transco, Lattice Group, BG Storage, Transco and British Gas.
